This former paper mill town is well known as a “small town with a big heart.” The total population in the city of Port St. Joe is just over 3,600 people, and the town reinvented itself after the closure of the paper mill in 1999, recognized more today as a tourist destination and a great place to live with the small town atmosphere and friendly locals. Port St. Joe has an incredibly interesting history worth checking out at the Constitution Convention Museum State Park, and today prides itself as the host of quite a few festivals and celebrations. The town itself is situated on the east side of St. Joe Bay, with beautiful sunsets over the bay and Cape San Blas in the distance. Only two traffic lights and one lighthouse in Port St. Joe, which offers plenty of delicious dining options, a historic downtown shopping district, walking trails, an upscale marina (currently being rebuilt), public boat ramps, and all the conveniences of a small coastal town.
